Hello dear ones! I hope you are all doing a great job. Welcome to a new section on mint cultivation. If you are a fan of mint but struggle to successfully grow it at home, then this guide is for you. I will share my method of growing lush and blooming mint in pots, including the secret to ensuring its growth.

Since mint is the most-used herb in my home (I can't resist a good mint tea!), I decided to grow it myself. This way, I always have a fresh supply, reduce my trips to the market, and enjoy pesticide-free, natural mint.

Let’s dive into the details of how I achieved this.

Choosing the Right Pot

The first step is selecting the ideal pot for mint. The best choice is a shallow, wide pot that allows the roots to spread horizontally, as mint plants grow outward rather than deep. Mint has small roots that don't require much depth, making this type of pot perfect.

Preparing the Mint Cuttings

For this process, I used two bundles of mint purchased from the market. It's not necessary for the cuttings to have roots, but they should have long stems.

1. Trim the Stems:
   Using scissors, I cut the lower sections of the stems and kept only the upper parts with leaves for kitchen use. I only needed the lower, leafless stems for planting.

2. Distribute Evenly:
   I laid the stems across the soil surface, ensuring even distribution so that no section of the soil was left uncovered.

3. Cover with Soil:
   I lightly covered the stems with a thin layer of soil to hold them in place.

Choosing the Right Soil

Mint thrives in rich, nutrient-dense soil. I used a mix of regular soil and organic animal manure to enrich it. This ensures the plant has everything it needs to grow vibrant and healthy.

I carefully covered the stems with soil, ensuring they were completely buried. This step encourages each stem to produce multiple branches, depending on the number of nodes along the stem.

Watering and Sunlight

Immediately after planting, I generously watered the pot to help the stems settle. Mint needs a moist environment, so watering is essential.

Next, I placed the pot in a sunny spot on my rooftop, where it receives direct sunlight throughout the day. Mint grows best with full sun exposure, provided the soil remains moist.

Mint Growth Progress

After 10 days, I noticed the mint began sprouting new shoots. However, animal manure often contains seeds of other plants, so I removed any weeds competing with the mint to ensure it thrives without competition.

Caring for Your Mint

1. Pruning:
   Mint grows rapidly and spreads horizontally. Once the stems are long enough, use scissors to trim them instead of uprooting the entire plant. Trim just what you need, leaving the base intact to encourage new branches to grow.

2. Regular Watering:
   Water the mint consistently but only when the soil's surface has dried. It's best to water in the early morning or after sunset to maintain optimal moisture levels.

Bonus: Wild Mint
